Since its inception in 2009, Ch.aco has played a pivotal paper to adapt the Chile’s art market and lift the international profile. According to fair officials, 70% of the works visible in the 2024 edition were sold.
“We see that when art goes beyond the capital, they are creating galleries of different regions,” says Elodie Fulton, the director of the fair. “Chile is a wide country, and regional connections are not always liquid, so promoting these conversations is key to expanding the art ecosystem.”
Irregular progress
However, the route of the fair has not been unchanged. Ch.aco had a critique in front of his tenth edition in the tenth edition in 2018.
This year’s edition will be carefully attained by organizers, Santiago, Valparaíso, Temuco, Puerto and Puerto Varas, Arica and Puerto Cisnes. La Saga, Santiago based, will be hyperrealistic paintings, Felipe Riesco, Carlos Fernández’s bronze sculptures and boxes made by Gonzalo Sánchez, $ 300 and $ 5,000. Alejandra Chellew, Director Gallery, highlights Ch.aco’s mission in the development of new audiences, referring to the growth of young artwork. The younger collectors notice that they are directed to drawn, mixed supports and photo interventions, and more buyers prefer figurative and abstract sculptures.
Role of ecosystem
“One of the biggest strengths of Ch.aco is the ability to link galleries with new collections,” says Fulton. “The fair works as an ecosystem that networks promotes and expands the accessibility of art.”
The edition program will strengthen the commitment of the fair with a number of perspectives, according to the organizers. The main sections will meet pointers, galleries, Chile, Argentina, Peru and Colombia. Art projects, Mariano Sánchez will have experimental and self-managed frameworks under the subject, “if you do not take risks, you do not cross the river.” Meanwhile, Sergio Soto Maulén includes the commissioners, he will examine the interviews of the Andes, with five Chilean and four Argentine artists aimed at body, politics and territory. The design is an increasing area of interest, and the La Tienda section is impossible.
Ch.aco will also open artists and also open young collectors to make new audience, designed a member program designed by art, gastronomy, music and events.
“The collection profile is changing,” says Fulton. “We are looking forward to attracting new generations.”
