The British Museum received 6.5 million visitors in 2024, the largest number he made since 2015, Newspape of ArtR-annual visitor image report revealed. Total in third place is our entire survey version Of these, it will be published in April behind the Musée Museum of Musée and Vatican.
Like most other museums, visitors from the British Museum’s visitors did it in 2020 as a result of a Covid-19 pandemic. It was welcome for only 1.3 million people in that year and in 2021, slowly, 2022 and 2023 slowly backed.
The figure of 2024 is 11% more than in 2023, and more than 4% over 2019 – before the influence of the pandemic. The last time the visits were 6.8 million in 2015.
The museum increased the popularity of international visitors and temporary exhibitions Legion: Life in the Roman Army and Michelangelo: Last decades. A spokesperson said: “Our visitors are in the heart of everything we do, many means to see many people from our doors to see the incredible collection we see”.
Visitors also overflowed to the Fitzmiam Museum of Cambridge, which was 506,000 in 25%, 2023 and 45% in 2019.
“As a result, our audience has grown in fact, because it is more diverse. We are attracting people who do not increase the Museum experience for those who already love us.”
This success, however, is not replicated throughout the UK. Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Naturally Hardened Numbers of National Gallery and Royal Academy, 25%, 32%, 47% and 50% respectors respectively. This is noticeable now that most other regions museums have achieved pre-prior numbers, or even greater.
