Jicol describes herself as an observer and traveler through life, absorbing inspiration from her surroundings, experiences, and cultures. She channels these impressions into her creative process, filtering and refining them until only the purest essence remains. Her work is a visual exploration of the soul, inviting viewers to engage deeply, reflect, and break free from the constraints of routine perception. Through her art, she hopes to awaken emotions, inspire creativity, and keep the human spirit alive.

    Here is the artist’s interview.

What is your creative process like?

    Alexandra:

Do any personal experiences shape your work?
    Alexandra:
Everything that I came in contact with influence my work: people, spaces, nature, cultures, etc. When I walk around, I imagine myself as having multiples anthenas capturing everything that’s in my close reach. After capturing these information’s, I store them to be used in the moment when I am starting the mental creative process and finally when I’m physically in front of a canvas or another support and ready to materialize it. And as I wrote in my artist statement: ‘How to go deeper and probe into my being and that of others, observing, feeling, filtering through myself to transfer this on to a canvas, paper or other foundation. I continuously filter and refine until I have the pure essence of what I wish to capture, which is to translate the soul in a work of art.’ ‘I’m a simple observer a traveler through life. My goal is to look, to hear, to explore, to learn, to express, to share, to appreciate all, if possible as a nonjudgmental and a tolerant soul.‘

    * What challenges do you face as an artist?
Alexandra: To not compromise on the quality of my work, its genuinely and continuous life purpose, regardless the life’s challenges and the wearing out due to constant setbacks.

    * What do you want people to feel when they see your art?

Alexandra: I always hope that when someone come in contact with my work ,  that they are being triggered to FEEL,to be uplifted,  to be energized and inspired. I aim to let it speak to the “human” consciousness, to interpelel and to intrigue. I think that an artist purpose is to trigger the viewer into using its own ability to create and to escape its sometime imprisoning pattern that doesn’t allow one to experience life in its whole splendor.

Someone said : “ the purpose of art is to keep the soul of man alive”

For Alexandra Jicol, art is more than a medium of expression—it is a way to connect, to provoke thought, and to inspire. Her dedication to maintaining the integrity of her work, despite life’s challenges, speaks to her unwavering artistic vision. She hopes that viewers engage with her art on a profound level, feeling energized, uplifted, and intrigued. Ultimately, Jicol sees her purpose as an artist as one who fosters introspection and inspires others to see life with renewed perspective and emotion.
